Baseball Recap: Bruton Drops Highest Score of Season Against West Point

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bruton). They were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the West Point Pointers on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Bruton let Ty Yates and William Muller run wild. Yates scored two runs while going 4-for-4, while Muller scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Yates a new career-high in RBI (three). Jack Kelly also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Bruton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Bruton and bumps their season record up to 3-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for West Point, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Bruton will square off against Jamestown at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West Point, they will welcome Middlesex at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The match will give the Pointers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
