Football Recap: Chaparral Wolverines vs. Pine Creek Eagles
A win for Chaparral just wasn't in the cards on Friday as the squad wasn't able to take the lead at any point. They had to suffer through a 49-8 loss at the hands of the Pine Creek Eagles. The Wolverines haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Pine Creek was led to victory by Xavier Lukes and Caleb Petree. Lukes rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, while Petree rushed for 52 yards and two touchdowns. Those 101 rushing yards gave Lukes a new career-high.
Chaparral's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Pine Creek, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chaparral will take on Fountain-Fort Carson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chaparral is facing Fountain-Fort Carson at the right time seeing as Fountain-Fort Carson is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Pine Creek, they will square off against Regis Jesuit at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Regis Jesuit will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last.
