Baseball Recap: Goddard Gets the Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Goddard ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Newton Railroaders.

Bryer Rojas was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Topham, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Goddard's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-12. As for Newton, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Goddard beat the Railroaders by a score of 11-4 later that day.
