Baseball Game Preview: Von Steuben Panthers vs. Lincoln Park Lions

Von Steuben is 8-2 against Lincoln Park since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Lions at 4:30 p.m. Von Steuben is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Von Steuben took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They skirted past Jones 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since May 8, 2024.

Aiden Rodriguez looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has become a key player for Von Steuben: the team is 2-0-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 7-8-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Von Steuben saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kayin Timble, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Timble is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another was Matteo Banuelos, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Park didn't have quite enough to beat Amundsen on Thursday and fell 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by just one run.

Lincoln Park now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Von Steuben, they now have a winning record of 9-8-2.

Von Steuben beat Lincoln Park 9-6 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
