Basketball Recap: Italy Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Italy extended their home winning streak to six games thanks to a huge performance from Tatum Box. The Italy Gladiators took down the Axtell Longhorns 40-22 on Friday thanks in part to Box, who posted 14 points along with eight boards and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Italy's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Landry Janek, who had eight points and three steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played.

Italy's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Axtell, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Italy will take on Hubbard at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Italy is facing Hubbard at the right time seeing as Hubbard is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Axtell, they will square off against Bruceville-Eddy at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
