Preview: Fultondale Wildcats vs. Altamont Knights
Fultondale has been on the road for seven straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Altamont Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 63-31, which was the final score in Fultondale's tilt against Dora on Monday. Fultondale has not had much luck with Dora recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, Altamont had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 40-39 win over John Carroll Catholic. The win was all the more spectacular given Altamont's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 257th, while John Carroll Catholic is ranked 100th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Altamont to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tanner Battle, who scored 18 points. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Battle has scored at least 25% of Altamont's points. Payton Daniels was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Fultondale has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Altamont, they pushed their record up to 6-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Fultondale came up short against Altamont in their previous meeting back in November, falling 41-32. Will Fultondale have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
