Basketball Game Preview: Kelly Walsh Trojans vs. Campbell County Camels

Kelly Walsh and Campbell County are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2016, but not for long. The Kelly Walsh Trojans will square off against the Campbell County Camels at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Kelly Walsh is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Wyoming's top teams: Natrona County, who was ranked 20th at the time (Kelly Walsh was ranked 19th). Kelly Walsh was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 38-37 to Natrona County. The Trojans' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Mason Eager put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted 12 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jack Nicholls, who scored eight points and three steals.

Campbell County hadn't beaten Laramie on the road since February 7, 2020 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. Campbell County took down Laramie 76-62.

Campbell County's win came from a few key players Kelly Walsh will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lane Hladky, who shot 67% from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and six assists. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 40.7% three-point shooting accuracy. Jack Andela was another key player, dropping a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds.

Campbell County was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They are 14-4 when they've passed the ball that well.

Campbell County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.2 points over those games. Kelly Walsh's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10.

Everything came up roses for Kelly Walsh against Campbell County in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, as the squad secured a 90-59 victory. Will Kelly Walsh repeat their success, or does Campbell County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
