Soccer Game Preview: Lightridge vs. Potomac Falls

The Lightridge Bolts will head out on the road to face off against the Potomac Falls Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Lightridge's offense. They fell just short of Briar Woods by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. Lightridge have struggled against Briar Woods recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Potomac Falls was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Stone Bridge. While losing is never fun, Potomac Falls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 225th, while Stone Bridge are ranked 56th).

Lightridge's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5-2. As for Potomac Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Lightridge beat Potomac Falls by a goal when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 3-2. Will the Bolts repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
