Basketball Recap: Wesley Chapel Comes Up Short

Wesley Chapel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 66-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lakeland Dreadnaughts. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Dreadnaughts earlier this season, when they won 79-78.

Despite the loss, Wesley Chapel still got an impressive performance from Ethan Hicks, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 25 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Hicks has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 17 times he's played. Cooper Peat was another key player, putting up five points in addition to five boards and three blocks.

Alshawn Hagan had a dynamite game for Lakeland, going 8 for 10 en route to 16 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Mcelhaney, who posted ten points and three steals.

Wesley Chapel's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Lakeland, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.

Wesley Chapel didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-56 victory against IMG Academy Gray on the 24th. As for Lakeland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-59 loss against Davenport on the 25th.
