Baseball Recap: Franklin Knights vs. Sharon Tigers

Franklin lost against Sharon back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Franklin Knights lost 18-1 to the Sharon Tigers. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest runs Franklin has scored all season.

Franklin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Sandok, who went 1-for-1 with a stolen base.

Even though they lost, Franklin didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with nine strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sharon only tossed five.

On Sharon's side, Ethan Engelmore looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Engelmore has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Mark Cattron was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Tommy Gargasz, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Franklin has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Sharon, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.

Franklin will head out on the road to face off against Meadville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Franklin has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Sharon, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Franklin at 4:00 p.m. Sharon will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
