Baseball Recap: Winchester Community Picks Up 14th Straight Win at Home

Winchester Community waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Union City Indians. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-0 back in April.

Dravin Whitehead made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Whitehead was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bryce Tippett was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jace Allen, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Winchester Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Winchester Community's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Union City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winchester Community will square off against Wapahani at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
