Basketball Recap: Fairmont Senior Comes Up Short

Fairmont Senior was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 46-23 to the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers. The matchup marked the Polar Bears' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Alyssa Abel continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Buckhannon-Upshur, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 16 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Abel a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Harley Dean, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.

Fairmont Senior's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairmont Senior will welcome Spring Mills at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Spring Mills' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, they will be playing at home against Parkersburg South at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
