Basketball Recap: Cairo Takes a Loss

Cairo saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 62-33 loss at the hands of the Marissa/Coulterville Meteors. While losing is never fun, the Pilots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 494th, while the Meteors are ranked 232nd).

Cairo's defeat dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Marissa/Coulterville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season.

Cairo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marissa/Coulterville, they will challenge Edwards County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Edwards County sitting on three straight wins and Marissa/Coulterville on eight.
