Basketball Game Preview: Mullins Auctioneers vs. Philip Simmons Iron Horses

The Mullins Auctioneers are taking a road trip to face off against the Philip Simmons Iron Horses at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Mullins is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They took down Lake Marion 78-60. The Auctioneers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Mullins' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Deyon Ford, who went 11-for-18 on his way to 25 points along with five assists and four steals, and Dakarai Worley, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. That's the most points Ford has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ernest Ford, who scored eight points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Mullins was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Philip Simmons waltzed into their game on Tuesday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. They claimed a resounding 69-34 win over the Panthers. The Iron Horses have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.

Philip Simmons pushed their record up to 19-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points over those games. As for Mullins, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
