Basketball Recap: Houston Beats Memphis East for Their Fifth Straight Win

Memphis East came into Friday's matchup looking for another win against Houston, but Mckenzie Percoski wouldn't allow it. The Houston Mustangs came out on top against the Memphis East Mustangs by a score of 56-46 on Friday thanks in part to Percoski, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 boards. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Despite the loss, Memphis East saw an underclassman step up: sophomore McKenzie Register posted 19 points and eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Register has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Amiyah Spencer, who had eight points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

The win was the fifth in a row for Houston, bringing their record for this year to 10-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for Memphis East, they moved to 7-3 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Houston didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-39 loss against Rockvale on the 28th. As for Memphis East, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 73-47 defeat against Madison-Ridgeland Academy on the 28th.
