Basketball Game Preview: Fairview Yellowjackets vs. Varnum Whippets

Fairview is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Varnum is on a 12-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Fairview Yellowjackets will welcome the Varnum Whippets at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Fairview's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten games.

Last Tuesday, Fairview humbled Oklahoma Bible with a 68-38 victory. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Trojans are ranked 400th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Varnum was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Paden 78-38. The Whippets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 24 points or more this season.

Fairview has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.1 points per game. As for Varnum, their win bumped their record up to 15-0.
