Volleyball Game Preview: Eastern Eagles vs. St. Xavier Tigers

The Eastern Eagles will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the St. Xavier Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Eastern is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Waggener. Eastern came out on top against Waggener by a score of 2-0 on Monday.

Meanwhile, St. Xavier waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Shamrocks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted against the Shamrocks since March 11, 2023.

St. Xavier was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-23, 15-10.

St. Xavier's win came from a few key players Eastern will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Josh Walsh, who had 29 assists and eight digs. He has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more assists the last 16 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Louie Murr, who had 24 assists and four digs.
