Basketball Game Preview: East Greenwich Avengers vs. Chariho Chargers

The East Greenwich Avengers will head out on the road to square off against the Chariho Chargers at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. East Greenwich will be strutting in after a victory while Chariho will be coming in after a defeat.

On Saturday, East Greenwich was able to grind out a solid win over Mt. Hope, taking the game 65-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Avengers.

Meanwhile, Chariho was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were outmatched by West Warwick and fell 94-50. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Wizards are ranked tenth).

East Greenwich's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-11. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points over those games. As for Chariho, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.

East Greenwich strolled past Chariho in their previous matchup back in January of 2021 by a score of 63-44. Will East Greenwich repeat their success, or does Chariho have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
