Harpeth took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Cheatham County Central, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Indians won by a run and slipped past the Cubs 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since May 3, 2024.

Taylor Riley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kyndall Threet, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Ella Pomeroy also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Harpeth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Harpeth pushed their record up to 3-4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cheatham County Central, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-2 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harpeth will venture away from home to square off against Camden Central at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cheatham County Central, they will head out to take on Hickman County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
