WPIAL AAA Big Nine recap October 1, 2013

West Mifflin extended the longest winning streak in WPIAL AAA Big Nine this week by beating Ringgold, 42-28. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Titans.

Thomas Jefferson took down Albert Gallatin 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Austin Kemp ran for 137 yards in the win.

James Wheeler provided a threat through the air and on the ground as West Mifflin defeated the Rams. Wheeler's key target this week was DiAngelo Mitchell, who caught 3 passes for 52 yards.

Wheeler was a beast in the backfield as Ray Braszo's team topped Ringgold.

Mitchell was the best wideout in the league this week as the Titans beat Matt Humbert's team. Mitchell tallied 3 receptions for 52 yards. Colton Weber helped West Mifflin's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 21 yards.

6-foot-1 quarterback Nico Law of the Rams is the league leader in passing yards this season with 783. He has also thrown 9 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Kevin Garbark. The West Mifflin star has 7 catches for 326 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Elizabeth Forward takes on West Mifflin. The Warriors are currently in third, while the Titans are in first.
