Baseball Game Preview: Foss Falcons vs. Franklin Pierce Cardinals

For the second straight game, Foss will face off against Franklin Pierce. The Falcons will take on the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Foss has now lost 19 straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 15.

Foss fell victim to Franklin Pierce and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Cardinals, falling 35-0.

For Franklin Pierce's part, Dustin Wallace made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave Wallace a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring five runs and stealing a base while getting on base in six of his seven plate appearances.

In other batting news, Elijah Sledge was a standout: he scored six runs and stole two bases while getting on base in five of his seven plate appearances. Franklin Pierce is undefeated when Sledge posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Lucas Larson was another key player, getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and one double.

Franklin Pierce always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .678. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Foss' defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Franklin Pierce, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record.
