Baseball Recap: Fowler Picks Up Sixth Straight Win on the Road

Fowler won the last time they faced Perry and things went their way on Monday too. The Eagles put the hurt on the Ramblers with a sharp 12-1 victory. Considering the Eagles have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Trevor Spicer and Jack O'Hare were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Spicer didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, O'Hare tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Spicer went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while O'Hare went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Sam Vanneste was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Fowler's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Conner Katich was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Fowler always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Fowler pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Perry, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

When Fowler and Perry next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Eagles will take on St. Patrick and their 18-game winning streak at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Fowler 2.9, the Shamrocks 0.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Perry will try to stop Lansing Christian's four-game winning streak when they meet at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
