Softball Recap: West Hills Triumphs

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but West Hills ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the El Capitan Vaqueros 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolf Pack have posted since February 28th.

Maddie Aylesbury spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Carsyn Colunga and Lili Leija did most of the damage at the plate: Colunga went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Leija went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Colunga a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reegan Veltre, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: West Hills lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 4-1 when they post two or more home runs.

The win snapped West Hills' losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-16 record. As for El Capitan, their record now sits at 12-12.

As of now, neither West Hills nor the Vaqueros have any future games scheduled.
