Basketball Recap: Bowman Academy Takes a Loss

Bowman Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos and fell 82-36. The Eagles lost against the Bronchos in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 68-64 score last time.

Alonzo Clawson-Smith continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lafayette Jefferson, shooting 59% from the field to rack up 31 points and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Clawson-Smith has scored at least a third of Lafayette Jefferson's points. Devion Penny was another key player, going 6-for-12 en route to 16 points.

Bowman Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Lafayette Jefferson, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 20-3.

Bowman Academy has already played their next matchup, a 72-34 defeat against South Bend Riley on the 27th. As for Lafayette Jefferson, they will challenge Harrison at 6:00 p.m. on March 7th. Lafayette Jefferson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63 points per game this season.
