Softball Game Preview: Roane County Yellowjackets vs. Meigs County Tigers

The Roane County Yellowjackets will face off against the Meigs County Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Roane County managed to slip by Anderson County the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Yellowjackets lost 18-6 to the Mavericks on Tuesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Yellowjackets, who until this matchup were averaging 3.18 runs allowed.

Sailor Presley made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kiari Fuqua, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Meigs County unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against Soddy Daisy, falling 16-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tigers have suffered since March 14th.

Meigs County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexis Kazy, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Lainey Goforth was another, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Meigs County's loss dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Roane County, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-3.

Roane County was able to grind out a solid win over Meigs County in their previous meeting back in March, winning 3-0. Do the Yellowjackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
