Softball Recap: Markesan Comes Up Short

Markesan started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Omro. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Foxes on Saturday.

Ali Kirker made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Moldenhaur, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Markesan has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8-2 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. Omro's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-16.

Coming up, Markesan will be playing in front of their home fans against Berlin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Omro, they will take on Campbellsport at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
