Recap: Carlynton Cougars vs. Northgate Flames
Carlynton took care of business in their home opener on Friday (barely). They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Northgate Flames and snuck past 7-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Carlynton also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2022.
Carlynton got a big performance out of Jacob Hughes, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Sean Hart was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
On Northgate's side, Chris Crawford put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (he also only allowed one walk). Crawford was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with a home run and an additional RBI.
Crawford wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Barron, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Carlynton will look to defend their home field on Monday against Freedom Area at 4:00 p.m. As for Northgate, they will head out on the road to square off against Clairton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Northgate is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
