Basketball Recap: Leechburg Comes Up Short

Leechburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Serra Catholic Eagles and fell 78-36. The match marked the Blue Devils' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Leechburg's loss came despite strong showings from Jake Cummings and Mason Scitticatt. Cummings posted seven points and nine boards, while Scitticatt earned 12 points. Cummings is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played.

Owen Dumbroski continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Serra Catholic, going 9 of 13 on his way to 24 points along with seven steals and five boards. Those seven steals gave Dumbroski a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Johnson, who made all 6 shots he took racking up 16 points and three steals.

Leechburg's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Serra Catholic, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Leechburg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 77-39 loss against Burrell on the 10th. As for Serra Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, an 82-58 victory against Eden Christian Academy on the 10th.
