Preview: Calvary Christian Academy Eagles vs. Pine Crest Panthers
Calvary Christian Academy has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. Having just played yesterday, they will head out on the road to face off against the Pine Crest Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on January 17th. Calvary Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Calvary Christian Academy beat Saint Andrew's 49-44. The win was all the more spectacular given Calvary Christian Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 415th, while Saint Andrew's is ranked 188th).
Calvary Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Taryn Wakefield out in front who scored 18 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Teagan Wakefield, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Pine Crest came up short against Spanish River on Tuesday and fell 39-31.
Calvary Christian Academy's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11. As for Pine Crest, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Calvary Christian Academy and Pine Crest were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup on Thursday, but Calvary Christian Academy came up empty-handed after a 44-43 loss. Can Calvary Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
