Baseball Recap: Cheshire Triumphs

Cheshire's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the North Haven Nighthawks a 10-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Rams considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Cheshire got a great performance from Alex Convertito as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over 5.2 innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Convertito a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Bennett Crerar was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Dylan Scalice was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Cheshire's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for North Haven, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cheshire will take on Wilbur Cross at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for North Haven, they will square off against Oxford at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
