Soccer Game Preview: Hanahan vs. St. John's

The Hanahan Hawks will challenge the St. John's Islanders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

St. John's will be up against a hot Hanahan team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Hawks' defense stepped up to hand Battery Creek a 3-0 shutout on Thursday. The matchup was close at halftime, but Hanahan turned on the heat in the second half with two goals.

Meanwhile, St. John's had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 goals) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 4-0 margin over the Yellow Jackets.

St. John's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 34 goals over those six contests. As for Hanahan, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3-1.

Everything went Hanahan's way against St. John's in their previous meeting back in March, as Hanahan made off with a 4-1 win. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Islanders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
