Recap: Santa Fe Indians vs. La Porte Bulldogs
The Santa Fe Indians were the 58-53 winner over the La Porte Bulldogs when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Santa Fe suffered a tough 69-49 loss at the hands of La Porte on Friday. While losing is never fun, Santa Fe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 709th, while La Porte is ranked 307th).
Despite the loss, Santa Fe still got an impressive performance from Ryland Chambless, who scored 16 points. Mason Crable was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
La Porte got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Phillip Ned out in front who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Williams, who scored 16 points along with five assists and four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Santa Fe and nudges their season record down to 8-9. As for La Porte, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6.
Santa Fe will be home for the holidays to greet Ball at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for La Porte, they will head out on the road to face off against Texas City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
