Softball Recap: East Davidson's Run of Six Straight Victories Now Over

East Davidson dropped their record down to 12-7 on Friday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They lost 6-0 to the West Davidson Dragons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 on April 1st.

ALYSSA STALEY spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, East Davidson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyleigh Hedrick, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for West Davidson, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.

On West Davidson's side, the result came thanks to Hannah Rollins's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 15 Ks. Rollins has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mahala Darnell, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. Gracie Michael was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As of now, neither East Davidson nor West Davidson have any future games scheduled.
