Softball Recap: Laurence Manning Academy Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

Laurence Manning Academy barely beat Colleton Prep Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went the Laurence Manning Academy Swampcats' way against the Colleton Prep Academy War Hawks on Wednesday as the Laurence Manning Academy Swampcats made off with a 13-0 win. The victory was nothing new for the Swampcats as they're now sitting on four straight.

Laini Kosinski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Ashley Rae Hodge and Jessica Griffin did most of the damage at the plate: Hodge went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Griffin scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those RBI were Hodge's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lyza Pricklemeyer, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Laurence Manning Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .440 or higher in four consecutive games.

Laurence Manning Academy pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games.
