Volleyball Game Preview: West Side Pirates vs. Malad Dragons

West Side hasn't had much luck against Malad recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Pirates will challenge the Dragons at 6:00 p.m. West Side is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.

On Saturday, West Side got the win against Declo by a conclusive 3-0.

West Side not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Declo between 17 and 20 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-20, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Malad made easy work of Wendell on Saturday and carried off a 3-0 win. The Dragons haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Malad was: they took every set by at least 13 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-2, 25-12.

Malad's win bumped their record up to 24-9. As for West Side, their victory bumped their record up to 18-7.

West Side couldn't quite get it done against Malad when the teams last played back in September as they fell 3-1. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
