Softball Recap: Fort Chiswell Pioneers vs. Galax Maroon Tide

Fort Chiswell put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Monday. They beat the Galax Maroon Tide by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 19-0. The win was nothing new for Fort Chiswell as they're now sitting on five straight.

Krista King and Blair Jackson were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, King tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Jackson struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 19 consecutive pitching appearances. At bat, King scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4, while Jackson went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Haley Brumbaugh was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with a home run and six RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in five or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie DeHart, who scored four runs while going 4-for-4.

On Galax's side, Maddason Bobbitt and Jayden Leonard stepped up to the plate in a big way. Bobbitt scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Leonard went 1-for-3 with a triple, two RBI, and a run.

Fort Chiswell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Galax, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-13.
