Basketball Game Preview: Clinton Arrows vs. Germantown Mavericks

The Clinton Arrows will challenge the Germantown Mavericks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Clinton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Tupelo, who was ranked fourth at the time (Clinton was ranked 25th). Clinton came up short against Tupelo on Tuesday, falling 57-35. The defeat continues a trend for the Arrows in their matchups with the Golden Wave: they've now lost six in a row.

The losing side was boosted by Jatoi Johnson, who went 7 of 11 on her way to 16 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Eatmon, who went 5 for 11 en route to 10 points.

Meanwhile, Germantown lost 56-34 to Starkville on Tuesday.

Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 20-8. As for Germantown, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-13 record this season.

Clinton skirted past Germantown 30-27 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clinton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
