Softball Game Preview: Cocoa Tigers vs. Titusville Terriers

Cocoa is 8-2 against Titusville since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Terriers at 6:00 p.m. Cocoa will be strutting in after a victory while Titusville will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with eight losses in a row, Cocoa turned things around against Cocoa Beach on Friday. They came out on top against the Minutemen by a score of 5-2.

Payton Hoffman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits. The game marked her first with multiple earned runs this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kindle Gold, who went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was AJ Davis, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 21 runs the game before, Titusville was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They came up short against Merritt Island, falling 18-1.

Titusville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madelynn Spencer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Cocoa's win bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Titusville, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-13.

Cocoa was able to grind out a solid victory over Titusville when the teams last played back in February, winning 20-15. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Terriers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
