Volleyball Recap: Central Rockets vs. Huntley Red Raiders

It was a good run, but Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huntley Red Raiders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rockets of the 2-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September.

Central was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-12.

Leah Freesemann paced Central's offense, picking up six kills. Freesemann got some help from Tea Cetina and her eight assists. Brianna Gritzman controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Leading Huntley to victory were Rachael Hein and Sophia Tocmo. Hein had three digs and two aces, while Tocmo had four aces. Those four aces gave Tocmo a new career-high.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 26-8. As for Huntley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 27-8 record this season.

Central will challenge Sycamore at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central is facing Sycamore at the right time seeing as Sycamore is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Huntley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
