League recap: Hart dominating on the mound for Franklin Towne

Philadelphia Public A's top pitcher this week was Franklin Towne's Tim Hart. He picked up two wins and 16 strikeouts.

Top honors in the league this week go to Franklin Towne, which finished with three wins overall, good for best in the league. Franklin Towne beat Benjamin Franklin 10-3 and Swenson Arts & Tech 6-0.

Although the 31 runs scored by Franklin Towne topped the league, Central maintained its lead in the league with 148 runs this season.

Franklin Towne's pitchers were the toughest in the league on opposing hitters this week, giving up only five hits. On the year, Franklin Towne has allowed only 92 hits in 18 games.

The league boasted 15 .400 hitters over the past week. The group was paced by Tim Hart, who collected seven hits in nine at bats for a .778 average.

Franklin Towne's Hart struck out 16 batters over the past week, bringing his league-leading season total to 86.



Jeff Bonvicin drove in four runners as Girard Academic Music Program defeated Saul 18-0 on Tuesday. He went 3-for-3 and scored two runs.

Jacob Kurtz struck out 11 in Girard Academic Music Program's 5-4 win over Masterman on May 17. Over seven innings of work, he gave up five hits and four runs.
