Softball Recap: Central Takes a Loss

Central came into this matchup off a tough six-run defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Southwest EC Eagles by a score of 5-3 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexia Rubio, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Southwest EC, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Central will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Calexico at 6:30 p.m. on the 15th. As for Southwest EC, they will venture away from home to take on Holtville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
