Basketball Game Preview: Pembroke Dragons vs. Byron-Bergen Bees

The Pembroke Dragons will face off against the Byron-Bergen Bees at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Pembroke came up short against Kendall and fell 47-37.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Morgan Coniber, who posted ten points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Peyton Liss was another key player, putting up 14 points and five steals.

Even though they lost, Pembroke smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 23 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Byron-Bergen earned a 51-38 win over Wheatland-Chili two weeks ago. Given the Bees' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Wildcats are ranked 572nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Byron-Bergen's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Pembroke, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.
