Soccer Game Preview: University School vs. Volunteer

The University School Buccaneers will venture away from home to square off against the Volunteer Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

University School is looking to pick up the season's first win, something they couldn't quite do against West Ridge on Tuesday. The two teams finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw.

Meanwhile, Volunteer entered their tilt with Cosby on Tuesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. Fans of the Falcons have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 3+ goals.

Their offense was hitting Cosby from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Cameron Cox led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by himself.

Volunteer's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 27 goals over those three matches. University School's draw makes their record 0-1-1 this season.

Everything went University School's way against Volunteer in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as University School made off with a 7-0 victory. Will University School repeat their success, or does Volunteer have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
