Softball Recap: Harriman's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

The third road game was the charm for Harriman, as they earned their first road win of the season. They came out on top against the Midway Green Wave by a score of 9-6 on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Blue Devils as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season.

McKenzie Smith made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ansley Moore, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Zoey Kring was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Harriman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Harriman's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Midway, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Harriman will head out on the road to face off against Ooltewah at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ooltewah's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Harriman's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Midway, they will welcome Lenoir City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lenoir City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
