Softball Recap: Providence's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Providence and Bishop Montgomery squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Providence had to settle for second. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. The Pioneers were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the five contests prior), but the Knights' pitcher proved too tough.

The loss snapped Providence's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 12-5 record. As for Bishop Montgomery, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-5.

Providence does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bishop Montgomery, they will face off against West Ranch at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
