Baseball Game Preview: Rye Garnets vs. Walter Panas Panthers

Rye is 0-4 against Walter Panas since April of 2023 but things could change on Saturday. The Garnets will challenge the Panthers at 10:00 a.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Rye 2.8, Walter Panas 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Rye took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over Nanuet. The win continues a trend for the Garnets in their matchups with the Golden Knights: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Walter Panas had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past Rye 9-3. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.

Vinny Lugo looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, Alex DiLorenzo was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Matt Garcia was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Rye's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Walter Panas, their victory bumped their record up to 20-4.

Rye might still be hurting after the 9-3 loss they got from Walter Panas in their previous matchup on Tuesday. Can the Garnets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
