            Baseball Recap: Conner Cougars vs. Highlands Bluebirds        
        
		
        
        
            Conner extended their losing streak  to four  on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 15-18 in the process. They took  a  4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Highlands Bluebirds. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bluebirds earlier this season, when they won  7-4.
As for Highlands, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-10-2 record  this season. Those  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.
For Highlands' part,  Iain Carner tossed a big game,   not allowing a single  earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Those  eight  strikeouts gave  Carner a new career-high.
 At the plate, Highlands let  Brooks Hendrix and  Nolan Schwalbach run wild. Hendrix  went 2-for-3 with two  stolen bases, while  Schwalbach  went 2-for-4 with one  stolen base, two  RBI,  and one  double. Another player making a difference was  Garrett Wiggins, who  went 1-for-3 with one  stolen base, one  run,  and one  RBI.
 Conner does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Highlands, they will square off against Simon Kenton at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday.
