Volleyball Game Preview: Maple Mountain Golden Eagles vs. Timpview Thunderbirds

The Maple Mountain Golden Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Timpview Thunderbirds at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Maple Mountain has three straight victories, Timpview has 14 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Maple Mountain is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Cedar Valley, who was ranked 25th at the time (Maple Mountain was ranked first). The Golden Eagles put the hurt on the Aviators with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-19, 25-15.

Meanwhile, Timpview lost 3-0 to Cedar Valley on Thursday.

Timpview was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-13, 27-25.

Timpview's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Maple Mountain, their victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-1.

Maple Mountain took their win against Timpview in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Eagles since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
