Baseball Recap: Brethren Comes Up Short

If Brethren was feeling good fresh off their 7-0 takedown of Suttons Bay on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bobcats came up short against the Frankfort Panthers on Thursday, falling 19-3. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.

Brethren saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Collier, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Johnathan Card also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Brethren's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Frankfort, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Brethren will be playing at home against Baldwin at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.13 runs per game on average), something the Bobcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Frankfort, they will face off against Climax-Scotts at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
