Football Game Preview: Carsonville-Port Sanilac Tigers vs. Merritt Academy Mustangs

Carsonville-Port Sanilac is 1-7 against Merritt Academy since August of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tigers will head out to face off against the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Carsonville-Port Sanilac's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against All Saints Central on Friday. They were outmatched by the Cougars and fell 76-0. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Cougars are ranked 26th).

Meanwhile, Merritt Academy had to suffer through a 54-14 loss at the hands of Byron.

Carsonville-Port Sanilac will have to contain Ethan Wolfe as he made an impact in Merritt Academy's last game. He rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. Wolfe got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 72 yards.

Merritt Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Carsonville-Port Sanilac, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-6.

Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Isaiah Rosser and Wolfe. Rosser just won't slow down this season and has averaged 133.2 rushing yards per game. Wolfe has been a dominant force too and has averaged 33.5 passing yards per game.

Carsonville-Port Sanilac took a serious blow against Merritt Academy when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 57-0. Thankfully for the Tigers, Anthony Casper (who rushed for 184 yards and three scores on only 11 carries, and also threw for 100 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven passes) won't be suiting up this time.
